Tanabe TEAS System

Do you have a set of Tanabe Sustec Pro Five or the Older Pro Seven Coilovers on your car? Tanabe brings you the ability to adjust your suspension dampening on the fly… and even automatically!

TEAS Concept
FOR ANY ROAD, BE IT A CIRCUIT, CITY STREET, OR WINDING ROAD, THERE IS USUALLY NEVER ONE SINGLE PERFECT SUSPENSION SETTING THROUGHOUT THE COURSE. The perfect damper setting for high-speed cornering may be unfavorable for low- speed hairpins. TEAS allows the driver to program our coilovers to deliver best of both worlds — perfect high- speed stability and maximum hairpin agility — automatically.

TEAS stands for “Tanabe Electric Active Suspension” and is the counterpart of the Sustec Pro FIVE & Sustec Pro SEVEN suspensions. This compact unit is the ‘brain’ behind the highly sophisticated new Tanabe suspensions. TEAS is a fully programmable dampener controller that allows for dampening force to be automatically adjusted while driving. TEAS accomplishes this by connecting and using the signal from the vehicle’s Speed Sensor.

TEAS active dampening control is uniquely possible due to the use of the specialized valving of the FIVE & SEVEN, in conjunction with TEAS’ slim, high speed actuators. These actuators change dampener settings in 1/100ths of a second, which is necessary as TEAS can continuously change settings at different speeds.

Hey…. your car is smoking…

So Monday morning I’m rushing to get to work as I was running late. After I get to work, I park the car and everything seemed normal. About 15 minutes later my boss says to me:

“Hey, your car is smoking.”

I stop what I’m doing, look out the window and had the typical “WTF” look on my face. I got out and see that I’ve got coolant all over the place and under the car. After further inspection I saw found that my coolant line that goes from the turbos to water pump decided to take a dump and diarrhea’d all over my engine bay. I had to get it towed to my friend’s shop Elite Auto Performance where I could work on it some more. Gave Ash at MazdaTrix a call and they had the part I needed on the shelf so the next day I picked up the part and installed it on the car. While I was installing it, I found that lots of other lines/nipples were baked and either cracked or broken. Another thing I need to tackle with the car. Take a look at the pictures from the whole ordeal.
