We here at More-Japan like things BIG. I mean, who doesn’t like big things? The current trend in consumer technology is to make things smaller, more compact & portable, but packed with more features. So when news came out about NHK & Panasonic revealing its new 145-inch Ultra High Definition Plasma display we were surprised that something like this is technically possible.
So here’s the gritty details. The 145-inch display houses almost 34 million square pixels. That’s a resolution of 7,860 pixels wide and 4,320 pixels tall and 60 frames per second. What’s also good to note is a new drive technology that scans rows of pixels simultaneously so there’s no screen tearing or flickering. This is impressive considering large displays commonly have screen flickering issues.
A plasma display this big means a color-rich viewing mode that looks nearly real. Could you imagine having this in your living room?
