Over the Weekend?

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

So, I decided to take a little bit of extra time for this blog entry. It’s been a while since I’ve made anything worth calling “Over the Weekend.” So, here we go…

On Sunday, I joined Dai’s Drift Academy #4. The last one I went to was #2, and I missed #3 due to brokeness. Good thing I found spare change throughout my car. Change from car + change in hamper pants + leftover wallet dough = drift event entry fee. jk… I’m not really THAT broke. But… almost ;) Anyway, here was my group’s little parking spot/area. Shortly after taking this photo, we put up the tent, just in time to block that hot hot sun. And yes, those are yellow stock S14 SE wheels on that car. :p

Drifting certainly does a number on your tires. Here’s one of my rears after about 10 minutes of driving. It didn’t “wear out” as much as it just…kinda… fell off. After this, I kinda bummed around until lunch time so I could get my tires changed while picking up some food. Eventually, 12:00pm was approaching…

… when THIS happened! LoL. Here’s my friend Rommel’s tire after a few good runs. Kinda flapped around and scratched up his brand new paint job like a bitter ex-girlfriend.  I decided I’d be a cool dude and take this with me to the tire shop for dismounting while I got my used rear tires installed. … What? you expect me to drift on brand new tires? … That’s… a waste of tires. :D

And so eventually, I ended up at the local tire shop, and I was the only one there. I figured there’d be more people from the event here… go figure — I guess everyone was busy eating lunch or something. So anyways, the guys got to work on my wheels. I like how the dude here prettymuch stands on top of my wheel like it’s cheap. You bastard! That’s a hard-to-find item you’re laying your boots on! Seriously, go and try to find another set of Altia N1 Wheels. I dares you!

After getting some tires put on, I headed back to El Toro to eat some tacos and finish up the event. No more pictures because I was too busy driving to be a photographer. :p

Another thing happened recently too. I got THIS in the mail! Remember a previous post I did about my NOT-legit “expired” registration ticket? Well, I beat it, and here’s my government paycheck. Suckasssss! :D Maybe this money can pay for the next track event I attend. But… realistically, it’s probably just going to go towards billssss… ahhhhh…. :(

Over the Weekend!!

Welcome to another posting of Over the Weekend!!. I shall once again be your host. In this issue, we take a look at the Sky Blue German Beast, relax a bit in the shade, pop some rubber, and take a trip to the dirty fields of metal destruction! :)

This is a 1973 VW Super Beetle. “Super” because it is much more glorious than any other Beetle, and far superior to all other cars on the planet. Just look at that aggressive stance; other vehicles stand no chance. In fact, most cars pray to one day be reincarnated as a 1973 VW Super Beetle. it is the pinnacle of beauty.

Please draw your attention to the interior of this sports car. It’s got more crack than downtown L.A. And yes, that’s right… that IS a house rug on the passenger side floor. :p

dsc00915 gallery pic

The cracks continue from the interior to the exterior. Look at these tires… LOOK AT THEM! The tires have more stretch marks than the beef isle at Hometown Buffet. Ever wonder why this car handles better than all other cars? I suspect that the secret is in the width of the tires. Look at this… They’re about as wide as my hand… I’m pretty sure my shoes have more grip than these tires do. :D

dsc00916 gallery picThe monster exhaust system — they’re the double barrel pea shooters responsible for giving the Super Beetle its distinct exhaust note. Nothing strikes more fear into other drivers than a car whose complete exhaust system can be plugged by my toes.

As i awaited for my minions at Yes Plaza, I noticed a nice photographic composition. I felt it would be nice to capture this moment. Ooh, it’s so nice and relaxing…

dsc00919 gallery pic

Yes very nice…

Finally those fools arrived and we headed off to the drift event at El Toro Airfield in Irvine, CA. While there, Tommy popped some rubber on his FC. Good thing he had a backup plan, which was… basically another tire. Nothing molests my heart more than hearing a perfectly decent wheel grinding itself onto the ground because the tire has been destroyed. Guuuhhhh…. -_-”

Due to the current economic situation, we’ve been reduced to homeless bums living in a desserted landfill. Just kidding. But seriously, I hope that doesn’t happen anytime soon — I’m not ready to live the Mad Max lifestyle. And if you don’t know about Mad Max, look it up, young fools! :p Anyway, on Sunday, we ended up at the local junkyard to search for cheap items. We found a few. But as a sidenote… the junkyard smells… like a mixture of pee pee, poo poo, and brokeness. If I had showered the night before, maybe it wouldn’t have smelled that way! ZING!…. :p

dsc00932 gallery pic

If you’re looking for some cheap spare parts, please visit your local junkyard. No need to let all this “useful stuff” go to waste! Geez… :D

That’s it for this time! Stay tuned! I’ll have another real good one for you all next time! ;)

Over the Weekend!!

Hello everybody! Welcome to another posting of Over the Weekend! This weekend, we take a look at delicious entrees from all over the world (20 mile radius). Wherever you go, there is a meal to suit your activity! We also take a look at winnings from those devious Japanese claw games!

dsc00604 gallery pic

First, allow me to take you to Ajisen Ramen in Rowland Heights. It’s a new location, and the service is still a little rough, but look at this ramen! They certainly don’t skimp on the toppings.

dsc00606 gallery pic

Then we go to Yes Plaza (Yes, it’s called “yes plaza.”) Who names these locations, I doooon’t know! Probably someone with weak vocabulary. BUT at least the spot is good — for me to poop on!

dsc00605 gallery pic

We rescued Doraemon and Gloomy Bear from the evil Japanese claw game. Pffft, they thought they could steal all our money… I swear most of those games are rigged.

dsc00608 gallery pic

… which bring us to Angels and Demons, the latest movie starring Tom Hanks! I must say, it’s a pretty decent movie, aside from the fact that it barely has nothing to do with angels or demons. If you enjoy movies that have nothing to do with their titles, I’m sure you’ll enjoy this movie too. We decided to buy some overpriced snacks. The pricetag definitely makes them taste a LOT better. Expensive bad food for the expensive bad movie — it’s a win-win situation! :D

The next day, I had to buy some groceries for the Laker game bbq. Apparently, the white dragon group was on my tail, as I spotted one of their highly tuned machines. Beware of their spoilers, they have MORE downforce than you! Thumbs down.

dsc00628 gallery pic

BUT two beef chunks later in that day = thumbs up! If I had to compare these steaks to give you an idea of their size, I’d have to say that each one was about the size of an FC3S taillight. WIN!

dsc00629 gallery pic

We feast like kings.

dsc00630 gallery pic

Like kings, I say! :)

Until next weekend, keep it real…… chunky!
