When placing an order for SSR multi-piece wheels, it is important to understand the different disk types. We’ve previously discussed before how the different disk helps to allow brake clearance on the back pad of the wheel. For example, smaller brakes would use Super Low (SL) or Normal (NR) disk to clear and bigger brakes would use Medium (MD) or Hyper (HP) disk to clear. For more information click here, here and here.
In the above image, you can see how the face of the wheel varies depending on the disk. Notice how the center portion gets deeper from SL to NR to MD to HP. This in turn adds more space behind the wheel to allow clearance for bigger brakes and aftermarket big brake kits (BBK).
