Who or what inspires you the most? Aside from me, of course. ;] lol

Kira Kaye: haha sorry for being a nerd, but I’ve always been very inspired by astronomy (the universe) and marine biology (the ocean), and two of my favorite tv shows are the universe and planet earth. It’s so fascinating to me to learn how the environment has evolved and worked around us. It really makes me realize how special we are and appreciate the world around me. You should give the shows a try and maybe you will feel me on this! =]

Tanabe-DK:
Thats pretty interesting. Maybe I will… What are some of your life goals?

Kira Kaye: I’m currently still finishing up my marketing degree and working with my partner on the clothing brand urbzoo.com, a brand that focuses on the urban and hiphop culture. We have many ideas and plans for the brand, and I would really like to make a career out of it. And of course I hope to save up enough wealth so I can make a trip out to space and observe the earth from a different view!

Tanabe-DK:
That would be pretty cool! Good luck with that. Going from ‘professional’ to ‘personal’, What are your turn-ons and turn-offs?

Kira Kaye:
turn-ons – nice abs, sexy smell, open-mindedness, good sense of humor, non-judgemental
turn-offs – arrogance, close-mindedness, insincerity, liars

Tanabe-DK:
Wow, I like nice abs too! So, are you single or should I stop asking questions? lol

Kira Kaye: mmm it’s complicated haha…it always seems to be huh? =P

Tanabe-DK:
It usually is. When you’re not modeling or working, what do you do for fun?

Kira Kaye: Raves! Definitely, a true fan of electronicas and rave culture. The rave culture has opened my eyes to a whole different world and influenced me in so many good ways. I’m also really good at light shows, so please say hi if you see me at a rave so I can trip you out and show you a good time!

Tanabe-DK:
..Do you mean ‘trip me out BY showing me a good time?’ lol kidding. If you had 1 wish, what would you wish for?

Kira Kaye: World peace, and everyone getting along with each other. Yeah, Im a hippie. ;p

Tanabe-DK:
We can always use world peace. For booking, what would be the best way to reach you?

Kira Kaye: e-mail me at qu33n7@gmail.com.

Tanabe-DK:
We can always use world peace. Any final thoughts, words, or shoutouts?

Kira Kaye: I’m an outgoing, welcoming, and unjudgemental person, and I give everyone I meet a chance. I truely believe that one cannot judge a book by its cover. So, DON’T BE AFRAID TO SAY HI!! =]

Tanabe-DK:
There it is, folks! Kira Kaye in the text! Thanks again Kira and good luck on your career and see you in space! Thanks for stopping by everybody!

Alignment Day

Monday, January 26th, 2009

Hello again everybody!,

This weekend was a long one… for the longest time, my alignment has been off, and it’s because some of my alignment parts were broken. I finally got around to replacing the parts, and it was time to do the installation.

On the checklist: Four new eccentric bolts for the rear alignment, 4 new washers for those bolts, and two new tie rod boots for the front suspension. I bought the new boots from Napa Online. It seems like Kragen and Autozone don’t normally stock these parts, but they were available online. It only took like three days to get these to my door, and they only cost around 12 bucks each. Not bad considering the OEM boots from the Nissan dealership is something like 50 dollars each! The eccentric bolts with new washers costed about 40 dollars total — kind of expensive for bolts, but I had no choice. I couldn’t find any other place to get these besides at the dealership.

So, I started by lifting the rear of the car into the air. And, as a side-note, check out my exhaust couplers. I guess all that street scraping shaved the bottom of one of my couplers completely flat. Also, one of the bolts fell out. If anyone knows where to get a replacement for these things please let me know. :|

So anyways, here’s a picture of one of my old worn-out eccentric bolts. You can see the groove — that’s normal, but you can also see a bunch of scratch marks. That’s from the cam washer slipping past its spot on the groove and damaging the threads of the bolt, simultaneously screwing up the alignment of the rear end. :( I can’t really complain though because I’m pretty sure these are the original alignment parts that came on the car back in 1997. So, I expected them to be a little worn.

After installing the new bolts, I had to realign the car. And yea, I do this in my backyard. It takes…. FOREVER! But, I can do this accurately enough so that my car doesn’t veer when I let go of the wheel, and the steering wheel is straight when the car’s moving straight. I mean, it’s not bad considering I just use a plumb bob hanging from a short thread, a ruler, and a t-square. :) I’m going to take my car to my friend’s alignment place next weekend to see how accurate my backyard alignment is haha. It’s a pretty decent process, the only bad thing is that I don’t have the tools to measure caster angle for the front.

After a while, the sun started going down, and I wasn’t done aligning the car yet. There’s a pic of my car floating in the air, “burning the midnight oil.” … or more like the 9:00 PM oil.

Finally, there’s a pic of my old tie rod boots. These things should always be kept in check. And make sure to re-lubricate the joints that these boots are supposed to protect. I have a friend who neglected these things for a while. He was driving around with torn boots for a long time. When he finally inspected the tie rods, he noticed a lot of play in the parts there — like a dangerous amount. It’s a good thing he replaced the parts when he did. Anyways, keep ‘em in check!

That’s it for Now! See Ya Again Next Time!

Over the Weekend

Monday, January 19th, 2009

Hello again everybody!,

So, over the weekend, I made a little trip to the TBC with one of my friends. It’s been a long time since I’ve been here, so I decided to take some pictures to share with you all. Ooh, by the way, has anybody seen these Obama dollars yet? It tripped me out — I thought it was a 5 dollar bill at first, but it was actually a 9. :p

Anyways, it looks like they’ve cleaned the road up a bit lately. Last time I was here, it was raining, and there was mud everywhere. On a side note, I must say, you do see some pretty random stuff here, like old beds and bicycles thrown down the canyon (or maybe someone’s secretly living in the wilderness), used love items, and other stuff. Sometimes, there’s used beer bottles on the ground — I don’t get it, why don’t you just drink at home or at the bar?

There were some cool people passing by too. There was a group of rich kids giving us the peace sign from their baller-mobile and a group of riders. One of them was poppin’ wheelies on the straights — like what the… the straights are so short that he was only to lift for half a second at a time. Still… pretty… random.

BUT I MUST say that the most random thing of the day was the “JTC Civic” that with the “aero” rear bumper. Understeer City. The guy was reckless. I mean, c’mon you shouldn’t be driving dangerously in the first place, but if you have to do it (and in the daytime wtf) then at least try to stay in your lane. Due to this, all “driving” experiences were put to a halt due to fear of getting into an accident with this person.

P.S. My friend’s got some SSR SP1’s on his 13. Buy these — they’re the hot item if you haven’t noticed already. Ask your parents for money. Or, just rob a bank. Or… just ask your parents for money. BTW, I knooowwwww that tax return season is coming pretty soon! Better jump on these!

The final item of the day was some driving at the old “circuit.” By the way, I now realize that Federal 595S Super Steel tires make a lot of smoke. This is smoke from a stock KA24DE. I was going to do my rounds, but my “friends” were on the way, so I decided to save it.

Until Next Time, Peace Out!

-M.
